kubi 2.0 FAQ

Answers to common questions about kubi 2.0. Each answer links to the page with the detailed steps.

These answers are about kubi 2.0. For the first-generation kubi, see For first-generation kubi users.

Device and iPad

Does kubi 2.0 come with an iPad?

No. You use your own iPad. Check which models can be mounted in Supported iPads.

Which iPads can I use?

iPad mini, iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro models that support iPadOS 13.0 or later. The iPad and case must weigh 750 g or less in total. 13-inch models can only be used in landscape. The apps are tested on the latest iPadOS, so we recommend a model that supports it.

Can I use an Android or Windows tablet?

No. kubi 2.0 is used with an iPad. Windows and Fire OS tablets are not supported.

Do I connect kubi 2.0 and the iPad with a cable?

No. They connect via Bluetooth. The iPad is held by a magnet, using the supplied metal plate attached to its back (Setup, guides 2 and 3).

Can I mount the iPad with its case on?

Yes. Attach the metal plate to the back of the case. Using a case is recommended. Keep the iPad and case at 750 g or less in total.

How long does a charge last?

kubi 2.0 has a built-in battery for about 4 hours of cordless use (depends on use). You can also use it with the USB-C cable (AC power) connected.

Apps and connection

Do I need a dedicated app?

Yes. kubi 2.0 is controlled with Robot-Stand Connect, Telepotalk or AvatarLink. Some combine calls and control in one app, and one works alongside your usual call app (Choosing an app).

Is there a free app?

Robot-Stand Connect is free. Telepotalk and AvatarLink require a separate contract.

Does the remote side also need a kubi 2.0?

No. You can control kubi 2.0 from a computer, iPad or smartphone. Supported devices differ by app. With Robot-Stand Connect on a computer, you only control the head, so you open a video call app separately.

I cannot connect from the browser

First, connect kubi 2.0 from Robot-Stand Connect on the on-site iPad. When it connects, the status lamp turns solid blue. Then enter the kubi ID shown in the app in the browser (Robot-Stand Connect, guide 1).

Control and calls

Can several people join the conversation?

Yes. Only one person (one device) can control the head at a time, but several people can join the video call.

Which video call apps can I use?

Robot-Stand Connect works with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Google Meet and others. AvatarLink uses Zoom. Telepotalk handles calls in the app, so no other call app is needed.

How far does the head move?

300° left and right and 55° up and down. Left and right, it turns 150° to each side of center and does not face the back 60° (see the figure in Using Robot-Stand Connect).

There is audio feedback

This happens when several devices in the same room are in the call. Turn off the microphone and speaker on every device except the one used by the person talking.

First-generation kubi

What is the difference between the first-generation kubi and kubi 2.0?

kubi 2.0 is the successor, developed and manufactured by iPresence. It holds the iPad with a magnet, uses USB-C power and tilts 55°. For how to tell them apart and information on the first-generation kubi, see For first-generation kubi users.

Can I use the apps I used with the first-generation kubi?

Robot-Stand Connect, Telepotalk and AvatarLink also work with kubi 2.0. Each page of this guide explains how to use them with kubi 2.0.
